When a child or young adult is experiencing an emotional or behavioral crisis, families may not know where to turn. Children’s Mobile Response (CMR) provides immediate, in-home support for children and young adults ages 5–21 in Camden County.
Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You do not have to wait until the situation becomes unmanageable to ask for help

When Children’s Mobile Response Can Help
A crisis can look different for every child and family. You can call when a child or young adult is experiencing:
- Anxiety or overwhelming emotions
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts
- Self-harm that does not require emergency medical treatment
- Oppositional or defiant behavior
- Refusal to attend school
- Behavioral or emotional challenges that are becoming difficult to manage safely
Support for the Immediate Crisis
Whenever possible, the team works to stabilize the situation at home, maintain a safe living environment and reduce the need for unnecessary hospitalization or out-of-home placement. Children’s Mobile Response can provide:
- Crisis evaluation and intervention
- Safety planning
- Treatment and stabilization planning
- Support for parents and caregivers
- Connections to in-home or outpatient therapy
- Linkage to behavioral supports
- Referrals to community resources and follow-up services
What Happens When You Call?
When you call PerformCare, a representative will ask questions about what is happening and determine whether Children’s Mobile Response is the appropriate service.
A trained Children’s Intervention Specialist can come to the home that same day. The specialist will work with the child and family to understand the immediate concern, reduce the crisis and develop a plan for moving forward safely.
The goal is to support the entire family, not to judge, blame or take control away from parents and caregivers.

Support Beyond the First Visit
Some families need more than immediate crisis intervention. Children’s Mobile Response can provide short-term stabilization services for up to eight weeks. During this time, the team can help the child and family strengthen coping skills, connect with ongoing services and prepare for future challenges.
